Milena Blagojevic is an architect, academic, researcher, and architectural project manager based in Florence, Italy. She teaches in the Department of Design at LABA – Libera Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence and has previously taught Architectural Design at the University of Florence (UNIFI).
She holds a PhD in Architectural and Urban Design and has an extensive record of academic research and scientific publications. Her scholarly work includes a monograph exploring the original interpretation and development of Modernism in Serbia, reflecting her longstanding interest in the relationship between architectural history, cultural identity, and contemporary design. Her research and teaching activities investigate architecture as a field where historical knowledge, design innovation, technological development, and social and environmental responsibility converge.
Sustainability represents a significant dimension of her professional and academic interests. In this context, she is actively engaged in the international community of ASHRAE and currently serves as President of the Danube Chapter, contributing to professional exchange and interdisciplinary dialogue on sustainable buildings, energy efficiency, environmental performance, and the technological evolution of the built environment.
Alongside her academic career, Blagojevic works as an architectural coordinator and project manager, with particular expertise in the restoration and conservation of significant historic buildings protected by the Italian heritage authorities – Soprintendenza. Her professional activity involves the coordination of multidisciplinary teams and the management of complex restoration projects, balancing conservation requirements with contemporary functional, technical, and architectural needs.
Her career is characterised by a multidisciplinary approach that brings together architectural design, heritage conservation, academic research, higher education, project management, and sustainability. Through both her academic and professional work, she is committed to fostering a contemporary understanding of architecture as a cultural, technical, and socially responsible discipline.
