Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Florin Drăgan is the Rector of the Politehnica University of Timișoara (UPT) and an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Automation and Computers. Holding a PhD in Automation, he combines academic expertise with entrepreneurial experience and strategic institutional leadership.
Since assuming the position of Rector, he has led an ambitious transformation of the University, focused on digitalization, internationalization, research excellence, and interdisciplinary collaboration. His leadership has resulted in the implementation of innovative governance practices, including leadership development programs, organizational culture initiatives, and modern management tools that have strengthened institutional performance.
Committed to connecting technology with society, Dr. Drăgan has promoted projects that integrate science, culture, entrepreneurship, and innovation, positioning UPT as a leading European technical university. Under his leadership, the University has expanded its international partnerships, strengthened collaboration with industry, launched new academic programs in emerging technologies, and developed major infrastructure and research investments.
