Balázs András-Tövissi is an Assistant Professor at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), where his academic activity focuses on Building Digitalization and BIM, Smart Buildings and complex MEPF systems. He is also involved in the coordination of B.Sc. and M.Sc. theses.
His research activity focuses on thermal comfort and indoor air quality, the influence of control strategies on comfort and building energy performance, as well as the impact of building digitalization on building productivity.
He obtained his B.Sc. degree from the Technical University of Timisoara in 2012 and continued his studies at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, where he received his M.Sc. degree in Building Services Engineering in 2015. Between 2015 and 2018, he completed his PhD at BME, with research focused on thermal comfort and energy. His international academic experience also includes an academic scholarship in Germany and research grants in Austria and Denmark.
Alongside his academic career, Dr. András-Tövissi is COO and Co-Founder of HAAN Studio Kft., one of Hungary’s leading MEPF design firms. His professional practice includes industrial, logistics, office, residential and hotel developments, as well as international BIM projects involving BIM modelling, Scan-to-BIM and operational model development. His work also covers building energy and comfort projects and project management.
His professional interests combine building services engineering with digitalization, energy performance, indoor environmental quality and innovative design solutions. His experience bridges academic research and practical engineering, with a strong emphasis on the application of digital technologies to increasingly complex building systems.
Dr. András-Tövissi is professionally active within organisations including the Hungarian Chamber of Engineering (MMK), the Hungarian Scientific Society for Building (ÉTE), the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the Federation of European Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning Associations (REHVA).
