Iuliana Chilea is a standardization executive with over two decades of experience at the intersection of law, public policy, and European institutional affairs.
Since January 2026, she has served as Vice President Technical of CEN, following nearly a decade as Director General of the Romanian Standards Association (ASRO), where she leads an organization of 130 institutional members, 1,500 national technical committee members, and 60 employees.
Her career at ASRO began in 2003 as a Copyright Administrator and Legal Adviser, progressing through roles in publications management and, from 2010 to 2017, as Director of the Standardization Division, where she oversaw national standardization activity and represented Romania on CEN and CENELEC technical boards. Earlier, she practiced as an IPR attorney, handling trademark, patent, and domain name matters before national and international bodies.
Iuliana holds a Bachelor of Law and postgraduate studies in EU Law from the University of Bucharest, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Business Administration at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies. She has led and contributed to numerous EU-funded twinning projects supporting standardization bodies in Moldova, Croatia, and Ukraine, and is a published author on standardization law and intellectual property. She is fluent in English and Russian in addition to her native Romanian.
